Math
- Our September Number Corner this month will focus on making connections between numbers written as fractions and decimals and start our work with volume in tangible and strategic ways.
- This week we worked with strategies for multiplication and reviewed prior learning before we took the first part of the Unit 1 assessment. Next week we will teach, practice and assess strategies for division of whole numbers.
Literacy this week
- Our first EL Module is about Human Rights and we will be using the book Esperanza Rising as a mentor text.
- This week we talked about and practiced how to accurately quote from a text and summarize learning from a chapter.
- We continued to work with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to make connections.
- We participated in our first Language Dive where we deconstructed sentences.
- On Friday we had a virtual author visit from Grace Lin.
Science
- Our first unit is called Patterns of Earth and Sky and we are answering the question:
Why do we see stars at different times?
- Our second chapter's guiding question is: Why do we see different stars at different times of the year?
