Literacy this week
- Our first EL Module is about Human Rights and we will be using the book Esperanza Rising as a mentor text. This week we did some inferring around this topic and explored texts to help support our thinking. We also spent time talking about discussion norms we will be using this year in EL.
- Because determining characteristics of ethical people will be a theme in this unit, we also spent some time thinking and discussing what this meant to us as a class and as individuals.
- We explored the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to make connections.
- We began reading Esperanza Rising.
Science
- Our first unit is called Patterns of Earth and Sky and we are answering the question:
Why do we see stars at different times?
- Our second chapter's guiding question is: Why is the sun up sometimes, but not other times?
